Summary:
Undertaken with Coastarc, this study defines the character of Kirra and what makes it unique and livable.

This study follows a three-step process of mapping the spatial, physical and cultural qualities that define the character of Kirra. Three scales of mapping (city, suburb and village scale) were used to gain an understanding of the character and context of Kirra and these findings were then tested through an invited community and officer consultation before preparing a summary and recommendations.

The output of the study illustrates how the character elements collectively contribute to the function, urban form and character of the local area.
The study outcomes comprise a concise Place Statement for Kirra, in the form of a descriptive summary of the area. This could be used as a resource to ensure character elements are appropriately considered in future development decisions, particularly in light of future infrastructure provision of Light Rail and potential increases in density.
