Summary:
Through collaboration with stakeholders and the design team, the landscape for the Middle School was structured upon the following key themes:
- inhabiting the slope (using the steep topography to create useable and interesting spaces)
- creating a heart (a place to learn, play, entertain, host and gather as a community)
- connecting spaces (blurring the distinction between buildings and landscape, visually and physically connecting with the existing campus).
The landscape design draws inspiration from the unique broader landscape created by Wollumbin (Mt Warning) including rocky basalt escarpments, gorges and ravines, caves, caverns and undercroft spaces, rich red soils, sub-tropical rainforest and lookouts.
