Summary:
The Surfers Riverside Masterplan presented an exciting opportunity to connect the heart of Surfers Paradise with the Nerang River. It also considered the staged development of recreational and commuting riverfront activities and transport options and ultimate connections to Chevron Island and the future Gold Coast Cultural Precinct.
Landscape Architecture led the multi-disciplinary team including Architecture and Urban Design, Planning, Civil Engineering, Storm Water and Flooding, Marine Infrastructure, Heritage, Accessibility and Economics. Core to the design was re-establishing visual and physical connections to the River and promoting the river as an alternative destination to the beach with a range of improved river edge embellishments.
