8LA prepared a guideline for shade trees for Bus stops, bike paths and sports fields to achieve best practice and comfort for users.

This study was prepared by 8LA and Cardno for Brisbane City Council. It responds to an increasing requirement to provide trees in urban settings, specifically for the provision of shade amenity and initiatives such as Brisbane Clean, Green and Sustainable 2017 – 2031, which aims to increase Brisbane’s urban forest. The project required an analysis of trees in three contexts through selected case studies and the preparation of tree planting guidelines:
Trees at Bus Stops
Trees at Sports Fields
Trees at Bikeways.
The guidelines achieve best practice design outcomes, as they relate to existing policies, planning framework and standard drawings.
